Don't you love how one day I can post a blog about Spago and then the next it's Hooters. That's the southern california food scene for you. =)
For happy hour this week, we went to Hooters, the place that is known to be "delightfully tacky yet unrefined." Guess who forgot to take pictures until the last chicken wing was about to get devoured. I get tunnel vision when it comes to food and all reason and purpose fade away when I get hungry. But for your viewing pleasure, here is a picture of the famous Hooters chicken wing. I never noticed before but they leave the wing tip on for some reason. Weird.
Tuesday nights are all you can eat chicken wings for $12.99. That comes with curly fries as well. We were tempted to get that each, but the waitress told us that it's only worth the price if you can eat more than 10 wings each. Sounds doable, right? But these babies are battered and fried, so I don't think I could have eaten more than 5. So that was a good recommendation on her part.
We ordered the 10 piece wings with half hot and half spicy garlic. The waitress recommended the hot and half spicy garlic and they were good but not really that spicy. I think next time I'd try a spicier sauce. Perhaps the 3 mile island or the 911. OK, maybe next time I'd try 1 wing with the 911 sauce, just because I'm curious. Oh, FYI, apparently the mild and medium sauces are basically dunked in a butter sauce. So don't get those. That just can't be good for you, even if you try to counteract the fried food with an order of their grilled chicken salad, like we did. haha. The salad was alright, but really your sole purpose in coming here should be their chicken wings or the hooters girls, if you're a guy. Our waitress was super cute, but she was already taken, boys. I don't think I have any guys that read my blog, but just throwing that out there. =)
We also found out that they have a daily happy hour special from 4 to 6 pm. It's half off their wings and their appetizers. We have to come back for that one. We missed it by 5 minutes, so next time, we'll have to meet at 5:50. She said as long as she can enter the order in the computer by 6, we can get the happy hour specials.
So all in all, a great meal was had at Hooters with the girls.

I LUV HOOTERS! Being in a college town.. that's one of the hip-hoppening places for happy hour! You can get the wings (naked i think they're called) which is de-void of all the breaded skin.. but it's definitely not as good.
ReplyDeleteI forget what flavor I ordered but whatever it was... but it was some asian zing type of flavor that was yummers.
How fun! Yeah, Hooters is great. I want to try the naked wings last time. I couldn't believe I was full off of 5 wings. I know I can do way better than that if it wasn't breaded. It's on!
ReplyDeleteOh I think they have a terriyaki flavor one there. Did you ever go to Great Seas in Chicago for their chicken wings? OMG, it's the best asian chicken wings ever! I miss it.
i'm a guy and i read your blog. lol
